Lehman Brothers actively recruits top candidates with strong quantitative backgrounds and the desire to apply their skills in the financial markets. By “quantitative,” we mean undergraduate or advanced degrees in finance, economics, mathematics, science or engineering, though a candidate’s intelligence, quantitative skills, drive and interest are more important to us than a particular field of study.

New hires with quantitative backgrounds usually enter our organization through the Quantitative Research or Trading areas, but their careers develop in all directions. People with quantitative backgrounds hold senior positions throughout Lehman Brothers.

We hire either directly to a specific desk within the Firm or through our associate or analyst/senior analyst program. Recruiting for various programs typically follows an annual calendar, but we accept applications year-round.

We hire Ph.D., master’s and undergraduate candidates. Ph.D. candidates with quantitative backgrounds are encouraged to apply to our associate or summer associate program. Master’s candidates are primarily hired as senior analysts, while undergraduates are primarily hired through the summer or full-time analyst program. If your background does not fit into one of these specific recruiting categories, we encourage you to apply nonetheless, as we are constantly looking for outstanding quantitative talent.
